How much does microblading cost, and what are you really paying for?

Microblading prices vary enormously across the UK. This is what ours includes, what to budget for in the years that follow, and why the cheapest brows so often turn out to be the most expensive.

If you have been looking into how much microblading costs, you will have noticed that the answers vary enormously, from introductory offers well under £200 to specialist clinics charging £600 or more. It is one of the first questions people ask me, and it deserves a proper answer rather than a single number, because what you are really paying for is not two hours in the chair but the years your brows will spend on your face.

At Little London Clinic in Royal Leamington Spa, microblading is £495. In this piece I explain exactly what that includes, why prices differ so much from one clinic to the next, what to budget for in the years that follow, and why the cheapest brows so often turn out to be the most expensive in the end.

What microblading costs in the UK

There is no set price for microblading, so every clinic decides its own, and the figure usually reflects things you cannot see on a price list: how long the artist has been working, how much of their training is ongoing, the quality of their pigments and tools, how much time they give each client, and whether the follow-up appointment is included. Location plays a part too, which is why central London prices tend to sit at the top of the range.

The most useful question to ask is not how much it costs, but what the price covers. Most reputable clinics quote one fee for the first appointment and a perfecting session four to eight weeks later, when the strokes have healed and can be refined. Some lower prices cover the first session only, with the perfecting session charged separately, so it is always worth asking before you compare.

What is included in our £495

Your microblading appointment takes around two hours. We begin with a conversation about the brows you would like and the brows that will suit your face, then I map the shape by hand in pencil and we confirm it together before anything else happens. A numbing cream settles while we talk, and the pigment is placed one stroke at a time, following the way your own brow hair grows.

You go home with written aftercare and the balm we give you for the first week, and four to eight weeks later you come back for your perfecting session, which is included in the price. That second appointment is where your brows are refined once they have healed, so the result you live with is the one we planned together. A deposit of 25% secures your first appointment, with the balance paid on the day, and once your deposit is received we post a patch test to you, to be done at least twenty-four hours before you come.

Every appointment begins with a consultation, and your brows can usually be drawn the same day. If you have had permanent makeup elsewhere, or you would simply like to meet me first, a separate consultation is £75, in person at George Street or by video if you are travelling from further afield.

How the brow techniques compare on price

Microblading is only one way of drawing a brow back, and the right technique depends far more on your skin than on your budget. Microblading uses a fine handheld tool and is at its most beautiful on skin that holds fine detail well. A nano brow places ultra-fine strokes with a digital machine at a carefully controlled depth, which means less trauma to the skin and results that tend to last longer, and at £525 it is the technique I most often recommend for oilier and more mature skin.

A combination brow, with strokes from the front to the tail and soft shading for depth, is £495, as is our masculine brow. Each includes the perfecting session, and every treatment and price is written down plainly on our prices page, so you can read it all at home before you decide what is right for you.

What microblading costs over the years

Microblading is semi-permanent, which means it softens gradually as your skin renews itself. Depending on your skin and the technique, brows can last anywhere from one to eight years, and oily skin, sun and active skincare can all shorten that time. Most clients come back for a colour boost from around eighteen months, a gentle refresh that wakes the brows up without starting again, and for brows I originally drew that is £300.

So when you are comparing prices, it helps to think about the first few years rather than the first appointment. If your brows hold well and you have a single colour boost along the way, that might come to around £795 in total, and I would much rather you knew that now than discovered it later.

Why cheap microblading often costs more in the end

The brows I see most often in consultation are not the ones that were drawn badly once, but the ones that have been drawn over again and again. Pigment placed too deep, too densely or in a shade that was never right for the skin can drift towards ashy, grey or blue tones, the fine strokes soften into a block, and the shape spreads. Every area of skin can only hold so much pigment, which I explain in the skin cup theory, and once it is full, drawing more on top only makes the brows heavier.

The most affordable brows are the ones you only need to have done once.

Correcting that work is possible, but it is rarely quick. Older pigment needs to have faded by around half to seventy per cent before I can draw over it, and where it has not, PMU laser removal lifts it first, from £85 a session, usually across one to six sessions spaced eight weeks apart. The skin then needs twelve to sixteen weeks to settle before new brows are drawn, and for anyone who knows from the start that they want to begin again, the Laser Brow Reset brings laser and a new set of brows together from £695.

By the time old work has been lifted and redrawn, the saving on a cheaper first appointment has usually gone several times over, along with a good deal of time spent filling in, covering up and waiting. You can read more about why so many people are removing old brows and starting again, but the short version is that the most affordable brows are the ones you only need to have done once.

What to ask before you book, wherever you go

Whoever you choose, a few questions will tell you a great deal. Ask to see healed results rather than photographs taken straight after the appointment, because fresh brows always look crisper than they will a month later. Ask whether the perfecting session is included, whether a patch test is part of the process, and what happens if you have had work done elsewhere. In England, anyone offering semi-permanent makeup must be registered with, or licensed by, their local council, so it is perfectly reasonable to ask about that too.

Above all, ask how they decide on the shape. Brows that age well are designed around the structure of your face and the colouring you still have rather than the trend of the moment, which I write about in the case for restraint. For general advice on choosing a practitioner for any cosmetic procedure, the NHS guide to cosmetic procedures is a sensible place to start.

Is microblading worth it?

For many of the people I see, the question of worth has very little to do with the minutes saved in front of the mirror each morning. When brows have gone with chemotherapy, with alopecia, with years of over-plucking or simply with time, having them drawn back can change how your whole face reads, and how you feel when you catch sight of it. That is the part a price list can never show, and it is the reason I have spent twenty-five years working in hair and brow loss. If you are weighing it up, our healed results are a good place to see what is possible on skin like yours.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How much does microblading cost in Leamington Spa?

At Little London Clinic, microblading is £495 and nano brows are £525, both including your perfecting session four to eight weeks later. Combination and masculine brows are also £495, and every price is listed on our prices page.

Is the microblading top-up included in the price?

Yes. Your perfecting session, four to eight weeks after your first appointment, is included, so your brows can be refined once they have healed.

How much is a microblading colour boost?

A brow colour boost is £300, usually from around eighteen months, and is for clients whose original brows were drawn by Zara. Please send us a photograph first so Zara can advise on timing.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

A deposit of 25% secures your first appointment, with the balance paid on the day. Once it is received we post your patch test to you, and you can reschedule free of charge with 48 hours notice.

Can you correct cheap microblading done elsewhere?

Often, yes. Older work needs to have faded by around half to seventy per cent before it can be drawn over, and where it has not, PMU laser removal can lift it first. We advise a consultation first, which is £75, so we can see what is already in the skin and talk honestly about the options.

Why does a nano brow cost more than microblading?

A nano brow is placed with a digital machine at a carefully controlled depth, which means less trauma to the skin and results that tend to last longer. It suits every skin type, and it is the technique we most often recommend for oilier and more mature skin.

Why permanent makeup ages badly: the skin cup theory explained.
